WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING...

I cannot believe how much easier it is for me as a single mother to stir up my teenage children for school when they hear our canary singing his cheerful song despite the early hour, before the sun rises. This occurs whenever our timer opens the curtains and turns on the lights of the canarium. It’s like having a Silent (well not so silent) partner assisting me in cultivating good cheer when the day might otherwise represent itself in a more bleak or forlorn way. I see why they call canaries the “renaissance pet! “ I wish I had bought this a few years earlier for my older Children to use before they left for college.

I use my Canarium as a welcoming troubadour for my night shift employees. They gather around the singing birds to assign nightly tasks and encourage each other. My employee turnover rate has stabilized in the last 2 years since we installed the canarium. On employee surveys they state that they now feel they contribute and belong. Before installing our canarium our night shift employees felt that they were overlooked and that they did not really belong. Our employees arrive at 10 pm, and we do not program the aviary curtains and lights to go out till eleven pm to accommodate them.

I am the manager of the complaints / lost luggage department at our municipal airport. We chose to purchase a canarium for the lobby adjacent to the complaints desk, and our staff say that since installing the song canarium their confrontations have become far less violent or intimidating and much more civil and gentle. I would recommend these for any situation where high stress and adrenaline moments are likely to occur. We used to have just elevator music, but that did not help the more aggressive customers to settle down… as well as the earnest song of a calling canary.

As a behavioral counselor for high school and college students I use our canarium to welcome the quieter kids who are less prone to inclusiveness. I find that the canaries respond to them in ways that make them feel welcome and wanted. I think it has been a big factor in reducing the amount of episodes of depression that once flooded my office. I also use the canarium in our testing center where students report far less stress of test taking when in the proximity of our singing canaries who are unafraid to make mistakes when they attempt to sing.
